Local Sewer Improvement

Doors open 6:00pm, Presentation at 6:30pm with Q&A
Lorne Park Library - 1474 Truscott Dr

Join Councillor Alvin Tedjo and staff from the Region of Peel staff to discuss connecting homes along Meadow Wood Rd, Cardinal Pl, Angela Cres, and Green Glade to sewer infrastructure.

Sewer infrastructure in Peel — and across most municipalities in Ontario — is typically funded and installed by developers as part of new subdivision construction. This approach ensures that the cost of new infrastructure is borne by those directly benefiting from new development.

However, in already-built or rural areas that were developed prior to municipal servicing, there may be no developer to assume these costs. In such cases, the Local Improvement process exists to allow residents to initiate infrastructure extensions — with the costs shared among benefitting property owners, often through Local Improvement Charges (LICs) added to the tax bill over time. A petition would need to be filed, where 2/3 of the benefiting property owners would need to vote in favour for the project to proceed.
