Lets build the Missing Middle
In Mississauga, we have lots of single family homes and lots of residential towers, but not much in-between. As the price of homes continues to go up, younger families are being priced out of living in our neighbourhoods. As the housing crisis intensifies, we cannot afford the status quo.
We need to build more homes, and we can build more homes that fit into existing neighbourhoods where servicing capacity already exists.
Councillor Tedjo’s Fourplex Town Hall
A lot has happened in the last few weeks at City Council. The Federal Government is stepping up to get more homes built, I brought forward a motion on fourplexes, and Mayor Crombie is using her Strong Mayor Powers to address the crisis.
A lot is going on and I want to check-in with you. Join me on Thursday November 9 at 6:30 for a Virtual Town Hall where I will be talking all things housing and fourplexes. I look forward to seeing you there!

My Motion to Allow Fourplexes
On Wednesday October 11, I brought forward a motion to City Council that would allow fourplexes in our city. Cities across Canada are eliminating exclusionary zoning in order to access federal funds.
This motion was defeated on a 5-5 tie.
Wait, that has multiple units?
Every photo on this page is a multiplex. A home where a family already calls home in Toronto.
These missing middle type homes already fit into our neighbourhood, without changing why we chose to live here.
What is a four plex?
A duplex, triplex, or four plex just means that there are multiple units on the same plot of land. Where there may have only been a home for one family before, we can allow multiple units on the same footprint. This allows more families to live in out neighbourhood without changing any of the existing neighbourhood.
My Motion
Right now, this kind of housing is not allowed in Mississauga. The Provincial Government is mandating that cities allow 3 units as of right. The Federal Government is also pushing cities to expand housing choice to access funding.
I want to expand our hosing options in Mississauga by allowing neighbours to build four units on existing lots where it makes sense.
